What is an indie film review?

An indie film review from Indie Film Podcast is an honest, published review of your film after we watch it. It's a great promotional tool, and gets your film in front our audience of dedicated filmmakers, cinephiles, and film students.Purchasing a review pays for our time and the review service itself (written and/or video). It does not purchase a positive opinion, endorsement, recommendation, or editorial control over the finished review.

What do I get from a review?

Written Indie Film Reviews
Share your film with us and after a thoughtful watch or two, we’ll craft a review of your film focusing on both technical skills and storytelling prowess. We’ll post your review (and the imagery you provide) on our website, and share the copy (upon request) to use in any promotional materials you see fit.

Short Films (anything less than 45:00): $60
Feature Films (anything longer than 45:01): $85

Episode Sponsorship Add-On
Since we’ll have already watched your film, take your online exposure up a notch by also getting a shout-out at the start of an Indie Film Podcast episode at a discounted rate. In addition to a written online review, you’ll get all the perks of a classic episode sponsorship.

Short Films (anything less than 45:00) with Sponsorship: $260
Feature Films (anything longer than 45:01) with Sponsorship: $285​

Indie Film Review Videos
Jump start your film’s promotions with all the perks of our classic written review, plus a video review from the Indie Film Podcast hosts. Video reviews will range from 5 to 10 minutes, and will be hosted on our YouTube channel in perpetuity (unless you ask us to take it down). This will include an additional backlink and your film’s logline included in the YouTube description, which we’ll optimize for maximum visibility. You'll retain a copy of both the written review and the video review for your records, or to use in any promotional materials for your film.

Video + Written Review (any film length): $375

Social Media Add-On
Exclusive to the Video + Written Review we’re offering an additional Social Media package add-on where we’ll share a promotion about your film on our social media platforms. You'll need to provide the imagery for the post, but can have up to 5 images shared (at our discretion) including your poster. This will include excerpts from our written review, as well as the logline for your film (that you provide for us).

Video + Written Review (any film length) + Social Media Add-On: $425

Question 4

What are the content guidelines?

We do NOT accept, review, or promote any submissions that depict/promote any of the following:

Any graphic/violent sexual activities or exploitation of minor children 
Hate speech/intolerance
Actual cruelty to animals 
Actual commission of any misdemeanor or felony crimes (specifically as defined by Idaho State Code)
Overtly political/religious/extremist viewpoints

We do understand that context matters, for example: We would gladly review a documentary about the impacts or existence of child trafficking. We would absolutely NOT review a film that romanticizes actual minors (read: NOT actors) being trafficked or hurt. We're not into snuff/abuse films, and you probably wouldn't like our review anyway.

All review fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable, so please don't submit your project if you know it doesn't meet our content guidelines. If you're at all concerned, please feel free to email us with any questions about the content of your film first.

How much does a review cost?

That depends on the length of your film, and the promotional package you choose!

Written Review: Short Films (anything less than 45:00): $60
Written Review: Feature Films (anything longer than 45:01): $85
Written Review + Sponsorship: Short Films (anything less than 45:00): $260
Written Review + Sponsorship: Feature Films (anything longer than 45:01): $285
Video + Written Review (any film length): $375
Video + Written Review (any film length) + Social Media Add-On: $425

All fees are applicable to one (1) film only and are non-refundable/non-transferrable.

What is your refund policy?

All review fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable, so please don't submit your project if you know it doesn't fit our guidelines! (And if you're worried, you can always email us your logline/details to ask.)

What if I don't like my review?

Accepted Answer

This will be an honest review of your film; we'll be highlighting all our favorite parts, but if there are glaring issues, we'll call those out, too. However, if you're concerned about the content of your review, we will be happy to remove it from our site if you ask.Removal of a published review does not entitle the purchaser to a refund of the review fee, nor are we able to remove all instances of the review if they've been cached or recorded by any third parties. By purchasing and submitting a film for review by Indie Film Podcast, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms.1. Independent Editorial ReviewPayment purchases Indie Film Podcast's independent review service. Payment does not guarantee a positive review, recommendation, rating, endorsement, or other particular editorial outcome.All opinions expressed in the review are solely those of Indie Film Podcast and its hosts. Purchasing a review does not provide the purchaser, filmmaker, distributor, production company, or any other party with editorial approval, creative control, or the right to dictate the substance or conclusions of the review.2. Authorization to Submit the FilmBy submitting a film, you represent that you are authorized to submit the film for review or are acting with the permission of an authorized filmmaker, producer, distributor, production company, rights holder, or representative of the film.3. Promotional MaterialsYou may provide Indie Film Podcast with materials related to the film, including but not limited to film stills, posters, artwork, logos, trailers, video clips, synopses, press materials, cast or crew information, and other promotional assets.By providing these materials, you represent that you have the authority to provide them for this purpose and grant Indie Film Podcast a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to reproduce, edit, crop, display, publish, and distribute those materials as reasonably necessary to create, publish, advertise, promote, and distribute the film review and related Indie Film Podcast content.This permission applies across Indie Film Podcast's website, podcast platforms, YouTube channel, email communications, social media channels, and other channels used to distribute or promote the review.4. Paid Review DisclosureIndie Film Podcast may disclose that the filmmaker, production, distributor, representative, or another party paid a fee for the review.Payment purchases the review service only and does not purchase a favorable opinion or endorsement.5. Review Scope and TimelineEach review fee covers one (1) film unless otherwise expressly stated in the purchased package.Reviews are generally completed in the order payment is received and will ordinarily be published within eight (8) weeks after Indie Film Podcast receives the materials necessary to complete the review.Expedited review requests must be arranged separately and are not guaranteed unless confirmed by Indie Film Podcast.6. Refunds and TransfersReview fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.The purchaser is responsible for reviewing the package description, submission requirements, community guidelines, and these Terms & Conditions before purchasing.Indie Film Podcast may decline to review submissions that violate its published submission or community guidelines. Fees associated with submissions that violate those guidelines are not refundable.7. Removal RequestsIf the filmmaker or purchaser is unhappy with a published review, they may request that Indie Film Podcast remove the review from channels controlled by Indie Film Podcast.Indie Film Podcast will make reasonable efforts to honor such requests.Removal of a review does not constitute an admission of wrongdoing or error and does not entitle the purchaser to a refund of the review fee.Indie Film Podcast cannot guarantee removal of copies, excerpts, embeds, cached versions, shares, reposts, search results, or other material controlled by third-party platforms or users.8. Platform PerformanceIndie Film Podcast does not guarantee any particular number of views, impressions, clicks, subscribers, sales, festival selections, distribution opportunities, audience reactions, comments, reviews, or other results arising from publication of a film review.9.
